On what is now an empty lot, a dream will soon come true in Edmond, Oklahoma. Representatives of St Jude Children’s Research Hospital along with TimberCraft Homes broke ground on the 7th annual St. Jude Dream Home house today.
The home will be given away August 22nd, 2013. A limited number of chances to win the St. Jude Dream Home and 13 additional prizes will go on sale for $100 each beginning on May 30th, 2013.
The home will be a contemporary two story, four bedroom dwelling with three and a half baths.
“Ground breaking is an important day for us. It is when we take the raw land and turn the ground for the first time as a community and it symbolizes something great is happening,” says Russ Laney, Associate Director of Construction for the St. Jude Dream Home program.
Local builder, TimberCraft Homes will lead the construction of the beautiful home in the Fallbrook neighborhood of Edmond.
“It’s really awesome what one person can do in a community and TimberCraft wanted to make that difference, in our community, too,“ according to Amanda Orrell, Director of Design for TimberCraft Homes.
The home will be green friendly and efficient.
“It gets its energy to heat and cool the home, almost 80% of it from the ground heat exchange,” said Garen Ewbank, professor at OSU –OKC.
Participants at the ground breaking ceremony took time out to write messages of encouragement on St. Jude Dream Home placards. The signs help personalize the goal of completing this amazing project and how it help benefit children with cancer.
