Military brides vie for free dresses
OKLAHOMA CITY – Military brides lined up outside of Impression Bridal on Tuesday to claim their free wedding dress.
The store teamed up with Brides Across America to give away dresses to women who could prove they or their fiances were deploying overseas.
For Rachel Pijlman, whose husband is already in the Middle East, the opportunity was too good to pass up.
“At the end of the day it’s his face, that’s what I keep thinking about. I just want him to see me and be like yeah!” Pijlman said.
Pijlman was first in line Tuesday morning.
She said she would have had to make do with a thrift store dress before she heard about this designer giveaway.
Melissa Herrera, store manager at Impression, said the giveaway was her chance to make a difference in the lives of heroes.
“I was very happy, knowing I was helping out his fiancee and making their wedding day special,” Herrera said.
Impression gave away 15 wedding dresses before the day was done.
